I’m back. Great backpacking trip!! Good hiking…with the exception of the last day when we had two ascents that were very steep with no switchbacks and it fell into the arduous category. 
The weather was perfect…warm days and crisp nights. Yahoo — we didn’t see any bears!! That’s a great thing, imo.(y) I’ve seen grizzlies at a distance in Denali and that was enough, thank you. Just say “no” to bear encounters.
One of the best things about this trip? The last night of the trip, Girl and I were sitting at the shelter, playing hangman and checkers.
Girl: Mom, you and Grandaddy are extreme.
Me: Huh? How’s that?
Girl: You know, doing this…the hiking with the packs and the camping and all at your ages.
:p:d8) Grandaddy is damn near twice my age, but I suppose at my advanced, nearly-decrepit age I’ll take all the compliments I can get. “Extreme” is cool with me.
Yes, Dear — I agree with Girl. You are extreme… and I truly respect you for it!

It was fun, but also glad to be back. I wouldn’t go with the cool thing, Ginger, but I can guarantee you smelled better than I did on Friday. :d
