Drawing the Line

I’m not Ms. Neatnick, but HTG, my DH is a slob and a packrat, which makes for a bad combo.:[

He was out of town this weekend and that usually makes the heart grow fonder…not this time. He had such a mess going in our walk-in closet, I could hardly get to my clothes. It’s not a big walk-in closet, but it was a big mess — his mess — been that way for a while too.:[:[(n)

So…I did a little creative picking up and shoving over and finally drew my line. I measured with a yard stick, straight down the center of the closet and then marked it with masking tape. And just in case there was any confusion, I drew an arrow pointing to his side under his initial and an arrow pointing to my side under my initial. :)

Girl: “Mom, what’s going to happen if he crosses the line?”

Me: “I don’t exactly know…but it’ll be something very, very bad.”

  1. I like it. An old fashioned twist on the ‘My Space’ rage, perhaps? It reminds me of my and my sister when we were growing up. When we were small and shared a double bed, my mother threatened to put a board down the middle of the bed. As we got older, we had a line (in the floorboards) right down the middle of the room that no one dared cross.
I am fortunate now, that my DH and I have our own walk in closets - small, but each our own - and all I have to do is shove it in and shut the door…
    …you are not alone…

  2. LOL at the line down the middle of the room! I like it. Oh, what I wouldn’t give for my own closet. It would be heavenly.

  3. Too funny. I did something similar with my side of the bed two weeks into our marriage. “When cuddle time is over, don’t come across that line.” I’m not a cuddler. :-)

  4. Hope that works out for you. Myself, I got a divorce and my own closet. Soon my son is planning to go live with his dad and come see me ???? Got news for him when he comes for a visit, he no longer has HIS closet. It’s MINE. Have a marvelous Monday.

  5. Well, while I had that tape out I thought about taping a line down the bed, since I’m not a cuddler neither. :p

Ginger, my train of thought has moved in that direction once or twice…my own closet…my own bedroom. Why stop there? How about my own house? 8)

  6. I often think about my own house! Sure would be easy to clean since I would only have to pick up after myself! My hubby and 6 year old are both slobs!

  7. For most of my life, I couldn’t sleep with someone touching me (get your mind out of the gutter…not even a nap with my mom or a girly slumber party).

That’s how I knew I was supposed to marry my now-hubby. He could touch me while while I slept. (But we were only sleeping together for warmth at first–seriously :) )

  8. Lorrie, I know just what you mean — except I guess I’d miss’em, mess and all, if they weren’t here. :s

Kimberly, you and Rhonda make me feel better. I think my next heroine has to be a non-cuddler. :) I always have to remind myself that most people like that business. :[ And LOL, it doesn’t bother me nearly as much if it’s cold.
