We went to my mom’s this weekend to celebrate Christmas with my brother and his fiance who come down once a year. Unfortunately, Mom got tripped up and fell yesterday. The upshot of two emergency rooms is that she shattered the bone just below the ball joint of her left shoulder. This morning she’s in surgery. An orthopaedist is putting in a new ball joint and cementing a shaft down to the bone. Please pray that she tolerates the procedure and that afterwards her body doesn’t reject the artificial ball joint.
It is the sobering reality of aging. I appreciate any prayers you send her way.

Oh, no, that’s terrible.
Hugs and prayers and healing thoughts.

Oh, Jen, I feel as if I know her myself–I’m so concerned. Hope all goes well and she comes through with flying colors.
You all take good care.
Love,
Anna

Surgery has been delayed until this afternoon but she’s in good spirits via phone (pain meds are a beautiful thing). Kimberly and Anna, thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Oh, Jen! I’m so sorry! I tried to call you over the weekend–both home and the cell–and now I know why you were incommunicado. I’ll say a little prayer for you and yours! Keep us posted!

Sending healing thoughts from here, too, Jen. I have an idea of whence you speak — my own mom is currently sporting a cast on her foot/calf after missing the last step going down into the basement.
I’m really hoping it’s not contagious. :)

Prayers from me too! Please keep us updated on her progress.
Hugs to you too, Jen, cause I know you’re worried about her.

Hugs and prayers, and get well wishes from us as well. Remember to take care of you, too. I just have the gut feeling that you will be caring for her post-op and you need all of your strength and wits for that.

Thank you so much to everyone! :love2: Got the call late this afternoon that she was in recovery and doing well. The arm was worse than the surgeon thought but it’s done now. Now we just need to get her through physical therapy. I know my sweet little mama — pt isn’t going to be pretty.
