What a Lovely Shade of Yellow

What a lovely shade of yellow…covering everything. The pollen is incredible. It is so heavy my dogs track it in the house. When anyone walks onto the porch, they leave footprints in it. I have to rinse my car off to see out of the front and back glass. I walked into the yard to pick up Girl’s soccer ball and my black shoes were covered in yellow dust. I picked up papers on my desk and there was a fine coating of yellow on them.

I don’t remember it being like this when I was a kid. Does anyone else remember it being this way when they were growing up?

  1. We had some rain last night that helped clear some of it away, but like you said, it’s EVERYWHERE. Ack!!!

  2. :cursing: Itchy, itchy, itchy. :cursing:

I grew up in the desert and no, it isn’t like this. Not even remotely close. I had allergies there, but I don’t even know what it was to. Something- my environment or something like that. Whatever.

  3. Oh yeah… the pollen. I can’t remember it ever being this bad — and this early in the year either. I’m on allergy medication but even it’s not totally effective against this much pollen. The DH is sick with bronchitis and I wonder if the pollen sparked it. He’s developed allergies in the last few years (which is funny because for years he told me my allergies were all just a matter of mind over matter. HA!) and he doesn’t treat them. Before I learned how to treat mine, I used to get bronchitis and sinus infections too. Maybe this will prompt him to deal with them now.

  4. Rhonda, the rain does help. We could use a shower.

Andrea and Marilyn, I’m so sorry y’all are sick. I know it affects lots of people that way.

Marilyn, I’m glad to know I’m not nuts. I swear, I just don’t remember this dusting/coating of yellow when I was growing up but we had trees galore. Weird.

  5. I’d love to open the windows, but the pollen is just too thick. With DG and AC both having allergies, there’s no way…

Sigh, and I love an open window…

  6. I can’t tell the spring is here. My nose is running and my throat iching. Hate the pollen season

  7. Kimberly, I love it when the windows are open. Alas, Girl’s allergies don’t appreciate it and one of my poor greyhounds seems to have allergies as well. Honestly, I couldn’t keep them open now anyway — everything would be covered in yellow pollen.

Oh, Barbara, that bites!! Hope it passes quickly for you.

  8. Yep, we desperately need some rain here. The pollen seems to be really badddddd this year. And it’s bothering my sinuses so bad that it is effecting my ears and making me dizzy. Back on the 3 prescriptions and boy 1 on those little boogers is really nasty!

  9. Ginger, that just sounds miserable!! Here’s hoping for a nice afternoon shower to rinse some of this away.
