I made one of my favorite dishes last night for dinner. Homemade split pea soup. Split peas, fresh carrots, garlic, celery, onion, sea salt, a bit of dried oregano and some ham chunks. It was delicious and the whole fam likes it. Unfortunately I think it wins hands down as the visually unappealing dish. Looks just like baby poo. I simply try not to look in my bowl when I’m eating. 8O
Hey, have a nice weekend.

Sounds dee-lish, but you are right. There is just no improving on the presentation of the split pea soup.
Enjoy the weekend, too!

I don’t think I’ve ever had spilt-pea soup… Must try this, though given your description I doubt I’ll get my dh or kids to eat it.

I love pea soup, but yes, quite gross looking. Dim the lights for atmosphere and maybe it won’t look as bad…

Sounds yummy…maybe if I blindfold AC first so she doesn’t see it before she tries it….

LOL, Ellen, there is no improving the appearance…at all.
Rhonda, Andrea, Kimberly — dim lighting, blindfolded, “hey, look at that bird out the window” while you shove a spoonful in the mouth…

Wait, wait! Drizzle some real thin lines of sour cream across the top of each bowl, a couple of shreds of (orange, not white) extra sharp cheddar cheese, and a sprig of fresh parsley or your favorite fresh herb… Voila! Now it is gourmet ‘Legume Bisque’. (Be sure and charge $8.95 per bowl…

LOL Ellen! That’s a terrific idea. And Jen, with that extra money you can buy Rhonda her castle.
Can’t say that I’ve ever had it either but it sounds scrumptious — especially with the sour cream and cheese.

Ellen, you are a genius. :thankyou:

Hope you have a terrific weekend, Kim h.
