Vicki’s Coming, Vicki’s Coming

I’m so excited! My fellow BentQuillPosse member and buddy Vicki Lewis Thompson is coming today!:cooldance:

Tomorrow we’ll meet the other third of this triumvirate, the incomparable Rhonda Nelson, at a cabin for 3 days of planning, talking and writing. I believe Rhonda’s a little concerned she’ll suffer cabin-fever with no restaurants and no shopping anywhere nearby but I think it’s going to be great!

As for today…I can’t wait to drag Vicki around my corner of the universe — Girl’s school, my grocery store, the office, the quaint restaurant that has great food and local artwork (yes, the very same place where I bought Precious’s birthday present to which she promptly responded, “What the hell is it?”.

Now, this all leads me to one burning question…I spent yesterday cleaning and straightening and I still need to vaccuum and tidy my office this morning but question is…why can’t I keep my house like this all the time?

It would be so nice to live this way but I just can’t seem to manage it. And no one better mention that stinkin’ Fly Lady.:fryingpan:

  1. Y’all have fun!

(And I ask myself the cleaning question all the time. I let the clutter pile up, then clean it up. Repeat. Every now and then I’ll mop a floor, but only under protest.)

  2. Let’s just say it was a good thing my house sold immediately. I could not have kept it up. I’m hoping the new house will give me room to spread it out and it won’t stack as high. We’ll see.

Have fun with your ladies this week!

  4. I think we must decide if we want a house that we live in or one that looks like a showroom. You can’t have both (at least I can’t…. I personally prefer the first, and refuse to take on the stress of trying to ‘live tidy’ I hate it. :wallbash:

And Andrea - the worst 12 days of my life were when our house was for sale and I had to keep it immaculate for last minute visitors. I was ready to go live in a hotel.

I hope your new house is more space to spread out and not just more space to try and keep clean. I know I have no desire for a bigger house - it’s all I can do to keep up with what I have.

  6. LOL, Kimberly. Girl says to me yesterday, “Mom, that cleaning smell stuff is making me sick.” “Well, baby, that’s because it’s so foreign to you — you’re not used to smelling that clean, lemon scent.” :happy2:

Andrea, I would lose my mind. That’s half the reason we decide to stay put every time we start looking at other houses.

Ellen, you can attest first-hand that mine is defintely very lived in. :happy2:

We’ll have a good time and we’ll get a lot accomplished which is a good combo. We’re all bringing laptops.

  8. Have fun! It’s easier to keep things clean now that the kids have left home. But the DH is a slob, despite his protests to the contrary. We’re keeping the grandbaby this weekend so I’ve been vacuuming and mopping thoroughly cause if there’s a speck on the floor, she’ll find it and pop it into her mouth.
