I could spend $500 on a beautiful oak bookcase and within a month, she will have painted it and put a goofy stencil on it, drilled holes in the back, and piled it haphazardly with Star Trek books. That, of course, is if she didn't decide to saw it in half and make two bookshelves to flank the tv cabinet she made by taking the doors off of a waterbed headboard. Or if she left it alone, she'd end up giving it away. Suffice to say, I only buy her furniture at the thrift store. Sounds like something my grandmother would do.
