I am a terrible family member.
I DO NOT want to go to a water park today and parade around in a bathing suit with a bunch of other people frighteningly parading around in theirs.:wallbash:
I DO NOT want to go to a theme park and walk around in the heat and ride rides that might wind up killing or maiming me.
I DO NOT want to do anything that requires me to go outside where I will have to slather up with sunscreen and then still burn while I’m sweating through a coating of SPF 60.
I also DO NOT like crowds so the idea of driving anywhere (and traffic will be bad EVERYWHERE) to watch fireworks isn’t my cup of tea. I can skip fireworks altogether.
Unfortunately, these are all tried and true July 4th activities.
I’ve reassured myself that I’m a fun person. I like to do things. Just not those things. I’m willing to walk out on the back deck to flip burgers on the grill today. I think I’ll suggest bowling. I’m a terrible bowler, but it’s air-conditioned, it shouldn’t be bad traffic to get there, and I wouldn’t think it would be crowded today.
Okay, so be thankful today that you’re not stuck with my party-pooping butt and have a safe, happy July 4th!![]()

I feel the same Jen. However the majority at home vote for the Water Park today, so I am stuck!

Heh. I’m like you, too. Usually on Canada Day we go to the arena for the Multicultural Canada Day celebrations (which is kinda neat because there are tons of vendors set up selling every kind of ethnic food you could possibly want). However, the arena is also *always* crowded and noisy.
And I’m not a fan of either crowded OR noisy.
But this year, seeing as how the fam is overseas at the moment, I elected to STAY HOME and have a nap. Worked out *much* better for me, frankly.
Happy Fourth to you and yours!

I did the waterpark thing last week with the dh and kids. Not my complete cup of tea either, but they loved it and had a good time.
Today it’s off to the dh’s family for a pool party/BBQ.
You and yours have a great 4th, Jen!

Sending water park sympathies to you, Barbara.
The nap, maybe some reading time, sounds good, Kris.
The pool party sounds okay to me, Rhonda! Have fun!

Hey, I considered this one of our best 4ths ever. We saw Transformers, ate pizza and lay around the house.
Hope you got to do some nothin’ too!

Well, Tuesday evening I left on a “road trip” with 2 brothers, 2 sisters & 1 nephew for “ding, ding” in Mississippi. We got there about 10 pm and didn’t leave until 7 am July 4th. That evening I watched fireworks on tv and just took it easy. We all had a great time, talking, singing and whatever. Great 4th as far as I was concerned.
