I’ve instructed Girl to have a good time with her friends today. A last hurrah, if you will, because if she doesn’t come home from school today with her retainers she’s history. She had her permanent retainers almost two weeks before she lost them. And the temporaries are lost as well. $270 to replace the permanent ones, $50 for the temporaries.:cursing::fryingpan::cursing::wallbash::cursing:

Is she supposed to wear them all day? My boy only has to wear his at night, so he’s never lost them. Of course, if he had to take them to school I’m certain the retainers would have gone the way of so many lunch boxes which never seem to return home. Sorry, Jen! :fryingpan:

 So sorry about that. Luckily, my kids have been good about not losing their retainers. I’m always harping on them to put them in the colored container they get while they eat. It’s usually hard to miss as clear retainers are easy to misplace. At least, if they put them in the container and develop that habit, they won’t accidently throw the container away. Anyway, that’s worked for us.
We have had to replace retainers before because they cracked though.
Hang in there. Girl’s young. She’ll get better. At least, she hasn’t driven your car through the Elementary School doors yet.

She has to wear them 24/7 for the first 10 weeks and then she goes to night wear only. I was NOT nice about it this morning — hard as that may be to imagine. 8O
And no, at least she’s not driven the car into anything. I suppose there’s still time….

I think I still have my retainers around here somewhere if Girl needs to borrow them.
(In fact, they’re practically brand-new. Rarely worn. Much to my mother’s extreme irritation…
And, yes, my teeth did move…

If Girl follows your path, I’m expecting her to reimburse me every stinking dime I paid for those braces.
Hey, are you on good drugs? Knee surgery over or have you not gone yet? I was thinking about you this morning.

Leaving for surgery soon.
I really wish I could have been scheduled for earlier this morning. I’m hungry and thirsty and not allowed to have anything until after the surgery.
Of course, drugs would probably stop the hunger pangs as well.

I made a similar suggestion over on Rhonda’s blog. It takes a long time to work off $270 worth of allowance. Lots of lawns to mow, lots of chores to be done for free…

Girl is in a state of servitude for the next four weeks. Seriously. She has to do all the housework and laundry — sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub bathrooms, dust, and unload dishwasher, and wash, dry, fold, put away laundry. For $75/week I could have someone come in and do it. So, she is a four-week house servant — and I expect it to be done right.
