Huh?

So, I log onto Mozilla and color me the easily entertained but a lot of times I scroll down to check out the top ten searches for the day on Yahoo. Numero ten on Sunday evening is…David Cassidy. David Cassidy?

3 Questions:

1. How many searches does it take to rank in the top 10? Like maybe 3? This makes me want to conduct a very unscientific, uncontrolled study by asking everyone who reads this blog to bop over to Yahoo and do a search on me to see if I could show up in the top 10. THAT would be cool…me and David Cassidy. Oh, yeah.

2. Who? Who is out searching for David Cassidy? This is just sad.

3. Why? Why are these people yahooing him? Like did I miss some big Partridge Family reunion? A QVC extravaganza of David or Partridge Family memorabilia? What gives?

Okay, I’m rallying the troops here for answers. If you have the remotest, foggiest…please, do tell! Share. And uh…don’t forget to Yahoo search me.

  1. It took me a minute to figure out who David Cassidy was. I can’t imagine why anyone would yahoo search him. Now Gerard Butler…that’s a different story.

  2. Consider yourself “yahooed.”

  3. David Cassidy still has a LARGE fan base. I am one of those fans. He is very much still a performer and has been touring regularly since at least the mid 90’s. I encourage you to check local events and see him in concert. He’s an amazing performer and a real talent if people would just allow him to get past the Keith Partridge thing. Seeing him for yourself will maybe help explain why he’s a top search. In fact, a google search is what led me to your blog today…..

  6. Gerard, Rhonda!

Thanks, Andrea and Ginger. We’ll see….

Tee, honestly, I had no idea.

Marilyn, I saw the same thing and thougth, “whats up with THAT?”

  7. I personally prefer Shawn Cassidy…

  8. Both Shaun and David are big into producing and directing now, I think. David Cassidy is actually a very smart entertainer with savvy business sense. But who knew? Now if you’d said Alan Rickman… everyone knows mentioning his name alone can draw thousand of hits to your site. If you say his name, they will come.

I’ll got with Gerry any day of the week!

  9. Okay, now I have to go look up Shawn/Shaun Cassidy too, Kimberly, because the synapses aren’t making the connection.

Okay, this just confirms I AM a pop culture illiterate, Kathy. I had no clue. But I do Alan Rickman.

  10. As mentioned before David Cassidy has a huge fan base, in the UK he is still a major attraction. And as today, if not hotter, than he ever was. Not bad for 57 eh?

  13. David Cassidy has been rocking for over 30 years and continues to have a strong and loyal fan base. He is extremely talented. You never know, check out a show and you might become a fan, too!

  14. Okay, y’all are converting me. Just list me as unknowing. I swear I didn’t know he’d gone on to theatre and more but I just went out and read about him and I’m impressed. And I will confess that I like to sing along REALLY LOUDLY with I Think I Love You on my best of the 70’s but I had no idea he was still rockin’.

  15. BTW, Pandora, Gerard Butler is the lead in Phantom of the Opera and 300 and some other movies. Scottish actor.

  16. David Cassidy is awesome!! Forget the Partridge Family —David has done so much more, as a solo artist and as an actor , especially starring in Blood Brothers on stage. He still tours and and has a huge fan base in the USA and here in the UK. His concerts are fantastic –his voice is amazing and oh boy is he still VERY hot!!

    Comment by Nicky — September 19, 2007 @ 1:49 am

  17. As my on line friends have said b4 me, David Cassidy rocks. We managed to make his fan club bigger than the Beatles and Elvis during his 70s heyday and that was without VCRs, TiVOs, PVRs, mobile and the internet. David’s two UK solo tours since 2001 were both totally sold out. So no surprise to me that he rates on top in searches

  18. Oh yes, David Cassidy is still going strong…for 37 years now. He puts on an amazing performance…the best! You should check out/download one of his more recent songs. He has a fabulous voice…better now than then even.
Thanks for reading about him and updating your comments, Jennifer…class act. I’ll go search YOU now!

  19. I am another of David’s many UK fans and I’m very glad to have discovered, in 2004, that he was still touring. I’ve made many friends through one of his fansites and enjoyed some wonderful times at concerts over here in 2005 and again this year.

Have a look at http://music.download.com/davidcassidypartiitheremix/3600-8691_32-101016718.html for some tracks from a very recent CD

  20. It’s really sad that the kids today (oops that makes me feel old) don’t have the same quality of stars we had in the 70’s. David Cassidy is a wonderful singer. He has been on Broadway, produced shows had a wonderful run in EFX in Vegas and at the Copa, in Vegas also in Blood Brothers on Broadway just to mention a few. I believe he has the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard. It’s sad that most of his music goes by unplayed.

  21. Yup - David Cassidy Rocks our world … but I guess you are realising that now lol. Move on from The Partridge Family and check him out - He’s Awesome !! Enjoy

  22. I have been another big fan of David Cassidy since 1972 when I saw him for the first time on Spanish TV.
I got the chance to see him in Manchester and Sheffield last April, and he was awesome, magnific. He has the most sweest voice I´ve heard in my life and I think he sings better now than ever.

  23. Araceli, I ran through one of the on-line playlist of songs he’s re-released and he does have quite the voice. I like the depth it has. I can see why he has such a fan base. He seems like a talented, goodlooking guy who is smart and hot and hasn’t squandered himself to drugs or alcohol. Just from what I’ve read, he seems like he’d be a nice person, too. Rock on, David!!
