Rock the What?

Yesterday afternoon I’d taken Girl and a couple of her friends shopping since her birthday money and gift certificates were burning a hole in her pocket. We’re driving home and Rock the Casbah comes on the radio. Girl and I are singing along when her friend Allie pipes up from the back seat. “Are they saying rock the catbox?”

It was hysterical. And because Girl and I are two peas in a pod we did have to sing the rest of the song “rock the catbox.”

  1. I’d snicker, but I’ve been in that position too many times…

  2. Snicker on, sister! I’ve screwed up so many lyrics myself, that’s why I feel entitled to laugh.

  4. I used to think it was rock the cashbox. I couldn’t figure out if that was a description for rattling the change or maybe slang for stealing.

  5. Kira, it is clearly a song very open to mis-interpretation.

  6. Too funny. I love that commercial that shows the two men walking and singing that song wrong. We’ve all done it.

  7. I’ve never seen it, Kathy, but it’s one of those easy to mess up songs.
