Yesterday afternoon I’d taken Girl and a couple of her friends shopping since her birthday money and gift certificates were burning a hole in her pocket. We’re driving home and Rock the Casbah comes on the radio. Girl and I are singing along when her friend Allie pipes up from the back seat. “Are they saying rock the catbox?”

It was hysterical. And because Girl and I are two peas in a pod we did have to sing the rest of the song “rock the catbox.” ![]()

I’d snicker, but I’ve been in that position too many times…

Snicker on, sister! I’ve screwed up so many lyrics myself, that’s why I feel entitled to laugh.

I used to think it was rock the cashbox. I couldn’t figure out if that was a description for rattling the change or maybe slang for stealing.

Kira, it is clearly a song very open to mis-interpretation.

I’ve never seen it, Kathy, but it’s one of those easy to mess up songs.
