When we adopted her, at the adoption center there was a bloody collar on a plaque as a memorial to the dog and a reminder to all owners. It was a greyt that had gotten out of his fence, given chase to a squirrel and been hit by a car. :( Honestly, thinking about it still makes me queasy.
