Sometimes, I wish…

Sometimes I wish I could just watch a movie without my internal writing editor knocking around in my head. Last night the dh and I watched The Family Stone. From about 1/3 of the way through it was predictable. But it was a great job of characterization from the sceenwriters and great delivery by the actors/actresses. But there were a couple of details in the movement of time and people that are still bothering me this morning. We watched the extras at the end and part of that included interviews with the director and set producer. They discussed how much work went into the setting and the details that were paid attention to in the setting and the costume design. So, why didn’t they clean up some of those niggling, disconcerting details? Even though I really, really liked the movie, it felt like sloppy editing — unlike Brokeback Mountain, which was flawless, IMO. As it is, I’m going to have to turn off my inner critic and just let it go.:s

Anyone else suffer this syndrome?
