One Down…

…and one to go. Rhonda instructed me that my bathroom and bedroom had to be painted before National conference this year because it’s going to be in Atlanta and people will see it. All because when she was last here in October for a conference I had pulled off huge chunks of my 20-year old wallpaper in my bathroom and painted a couple of different colors on my bedroom wall to test which one I preferred. “Jen, how in the world can you lay down and sleep in that room with those different colors on the wall? You’ve got to do something about this.”

So…I’ve got this NASCAR proposal (first three chapters) due mid-month, but I fear the wrath of my nag…uh, I mean my friend Rhonda more. Girl and I had stripped and sanded the walls…well, some time ago, but yesterday after I finished my art fact sheets, I gritted my teeth and we painted the bathroom. Five hours and two coats and it does look lovely — except for where the paint peeled off with the freaking tape. Got to love that touch up detail (ack, ack).

My bathroom walls are a pristine, fresh “sand.” Now I just have to tackle my bedroom.;( And actually the guest bath needs repainting (have I mentioned I don’t like to paint?). But that’ll have to wait until AFTER I finish the proposal.

Temptation Hath a New Name…

…and it’s Chili Cheese Fritos.;( I’m not a junk food queen. For the most part it doesn’t appeal to me. And I don’t buy it. No chips or cookies or such in my grocery cart. Blame my DH and The Girl. They bring home those chili cheese fritos and as long as the bag’s not open, I’m okay, but I can’t resist the siren’s song once the bag is opened. It’s terrible. They’re so good in a totally high-fat non-nutritionally redemptive way and I seem to have no willpower where they’re concerned. :o I think the only thing for it is to banish them from my presence. I forbid them to open a bag around me anymore or they will suffer dire consequences…like an additonal five pounds sitting on my waistline.:[

To Fondue or not to Fondue…That is the Question

A couple of friends and I were chatting on-line about dinner plans when they come to Atlanta next month for RWA’s National conference. One friend was relaying a recent fondue dinner out with her daughter and how it was pretty much a disaster and she’d vote no on another fondue experience. (n):p

Fine by me. The whole thing just doesn’t appeal. I’m lazy. I detest buffets for lots of reasons, but one reason being because if I’m eating out, I want to be served. I want to keep my fat butt planted in a chair and I want to be served. I don’t want to have to drag mysefl down a chow line like cattle milling at a trough, thank you. Serve me, please.(d)

I know with a fondue I’m not having to go anywhere, but damn, do I want to cook my own food when I go out? I think not. That’s the whole point of me going out so I can tell my wait person that I’d like my tuna or my filet mignon rare. If I wanted to cook, I’d save my cash and stay home. And if I’m going to cook it, I sure don’t want to boil it in communal oil and then dip it in a sauce. :[

Maybe it’s indicative of a general lack o’ sophistication on my part, but I’m just not a fondue kinda gal. I’ll have to pass.:d

How about you? Do you fondue?
