Name Poems

Girl did a name poem for me during Spring Break last week. I think these are most fun when someone else does your name. Of course, it’s fairly interesting to do your own (although that borders on something you might want to do during therapy) — how others perceive you versus self-perception.

J-Joyful
E-Energetic
N-Noisy
N-Nosey (I prefer “curious” — sounds better but doesn’t start with a “n”
I-Impressive
F-Fun
E-Enormous…compared to an ant (Girl was crusin’ for a bruisin’
R-Runner

Here’s a name poem she did last year that I keep on my bulletin board:

J-Jabbers too much
E-Enjoys reading
N-Nature loves her
N-Nags me a lot
I-Is very caring
F-Feels good about her
E-Every day is good
R-Respects herself

Anyone else noticing a consistent theme from last year to this year like the mouthy part? What can I say? I guess I have to own it.:thankyou:

Genetics

“Mom, today in school, in band class, I REALLY had to poot. So, I waited until the trombones and saxaphones were practicing and then….”

I burst out laughing.

Girl grins. “Yeah, Kelsey next to me says, Did you just… and I looked at her and said Are you crazy? Those trombones are loud!

:happy2::happy2::happy2::happy2:

A perfect study in genetics. The wiliness to wait on the trombones…she gets that from me. The gas and the lie…that girl’s just like her daddy.:fryingpan:

Gives a whole new meaning to “toot your own horn” … okay, that was bad. I’ll stop now.:happy2:

Say “I Love You”

A friend ended her struggle with pancreatic cancer yesterday. I have to say that for some time now my prayers for her were that the end would hasten and bring her relief and peace. She’s found that now.

The following is excerpted from an email from her husband: “I ask that you take one lesson away from this. Never take time or people for granted. Always tell loved ones or people you care about exactly what they mean to you.”

So, this email isn’t meant to be a downer or elicit condolences. Laura is in a much better place and there’s no doubt about that. Instead, I challenge you right now, as you read this, pick up the phone or send an email and tell or remind someone how much they mean to you. :love2:

Food Crazed

I believe my little dog has an eating disorder. She’s 9 pounds. She will take on my 75-pound or 62-pound dogs in a heartbeat over a single piece of kibble. One piece of food lying about and she’ll growl and snarl and generally show out until it’s in her mouth. She’s attacked the cat on more than one occasion for a single snippet of food. In every other respect, she’s lovely. Calm. Friendly. Put a piece of food in the equation and she’s a maniac. Any suggestions?

Good News/Bad News/Ultimate Good News

Good News: I figured out why I’m stalled out on my book. I hate the heroine! It’s a bad sign when you think, “Why would he be remotely attracted to her? I personally hate her and I created her.” Yes, friends, this is a dark moment indeed and don’t forget we’re still on the good news.:wallbash::fryingpan:

Bad News: The heroine needs to drop off the planet and her quirky sister who has been eclipsing her anyway is the real heroine which will entail massive re-write/re-structuring of the story.:cursing::doh:

Ultimate Good News: I love this new book and thank goodness I have a goddess for an editor  and she didn’t scream obscenities or fall over in a dead faint when I called her and discussed this with her. The next few weeks will be very busy for me.:dog:

Smile

I heard Lily Allen on a NPR interview and liked her. I have to have her cd. And her Smile video is hilarious: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HZyTOROlo9E. (Sorry, just cut and paste — trust me, it’s worth it!)

Watch it and laugh! Or maybe I just have a warped sense of humour.:happy2:

That Good

“Mom, that’s probably the best movie I ever saw. I could watch it another ten times and I think I’d like it every time and get something new out of it every time.”

So, sayeth Girl upon leaving the theater after seeing Peaceful Warrior. I concur.

BTW, if the time stamp works properly I’ll have a post every day but I won’t actually be checking in until Friday. Girl and I are going down to visit Grandma and Grandad.:cooldance:

Martha Stewart…

…eat your heart out!

Okay, well, maybe Martha would do better. Actually, I’m sure she would, but every once in a while I surprise myself in a moment of rare domestic goddessness. Yesterday was one of them. The DH was out of town for the weekend and I invited a couple of the girls over for Sunday brunch. Mimosas, eggs sardou, fresh fruit (melon, pineapple, and strawberries, pear/walnut/gorgonzola salad over mixed baby greens, cranberry muffins, and molten chocolate babycakes. Yes, all of the above prepared by yours truly. The house was sort of clean and cleaned up. White linen napkins tied with fresh ivy cut from the backyard. I even put together a lovely floral arrangement from my yard. Kwanzan cherry blooms, dogwood and spirea.

Whew! I think that’ll do me on the domesticated goddess front for several months.:thankyou:
